In March of 1987, I founded Kirklyn Enterprises (then called GS Micro Consultants) with the belief that personal computers were becoming a vital tool for the business sector. The opportunity to assist companies with this relatively new technology, called the PC, was exciting. And, today, it still is! Even so, I (like most other people) did not foresee the tremendous impact the PC would have in our business and personal lives over the next decade.

Consider this: In 1987, the Internet didn't exist as we know it today. Windows were primarily things you opened to let in fresh air. And, there wasn't a dozen computer superstores in every town. Remember, the IBM PC was only six years old and the hot machines were 386-based PCs.

Off the shelf computer software was being developed, but in most situations, we were writing custom programs to meet client needs. Software development tools were archaic by today's standards, and capabilities were limited. When the client's computers failed (there was a much higher incidence of that, back then), we fixed them, too.

By 1995, the Internet was just beginning to flourish. As we expanded our knowledge of servers and networks, we saw a major shift in our business from programming applications to a focus on Internet technologies. We continued installing networks but we began to connect the internal networks to the Internet! And, we began to learn about web site design requirements and effective programming techniques.

By the late 1990's, we were primarily installing and supporting LANs and WANs for our clients. We also observed a shift in our clients needs towards more and faster connections to the Internet.

By 1999, we began to heavily invest in Internet development software. We decided to utilize commercial quality software, perform the research necessary to educate ourselves on proper development techniques, and spend the time needed to ensure that we knew what it took to deploy a successful web site

Over the last two years, we compiled guidelines for web site development called Successful Internet Site Design Criteria (SISDC). We want to help our clients succeed on the Internet. The time and money spent developing SISDC were definitely well spent.

We hope that you will allow us the opportunity to meet with you and earn your business. Please contact us at your earliest convenience. I hope that we can develop a mutually beneficial business relationship.

Sincerely,

Steve Schultz
